FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM. Adjustments to these times can be requested and will be granted based on availability. These times were chosen to give our cleaning team plenty of time to make sure the rooms are ready for you and our next guests.
  • Is there any flexibility with the check-in/check-out times?
Yes, we do try to be flexible with these times, but please recognize that at times we will need to be strict with them in order to ensure our team has time to help all our guests have a great experience.
  • Can we get a large group discount?
We do not offer any discount or promo code other than our Stay-More-Pay-Less discount (for stays of 4 nights or longer). Because we are a small business, larger groups generally mean additional work in a compressed timeframe for our team. For that reason we do not offer a large group discount.
  • Are the accommodations within walking distance of each other?
Yes, our accommodations are all within walking distance of each other. The Riverside Suites are all located within the Lodge building. The houses are on the other side of the river and set back in the woods a bit. The River House is under 10 minutes (1/4 mile) away including a short stretch alongside the highway. The walk to Jack's Place from the Riverside Suites is just a few minutes on a path and road adjoining the Lodge.
  • Is smoking allowed on the property?
No it is not. This is a 100% NO SMOKING property. This includes tobacco, marijuana, e-cigarettes, vapes, pens, etc. Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the property, including in or near any building, on decks, porches, patios, stairs, etc. We will assess a minimum $250 additional cleaning fee for any tobacco, marijuana, or other residue in the rooms.
  • Are pets (including emotional support animals) allowed on the property?
This is a NO ANIMAL property. Pets and emotional support animals are not allowed on our property. The two exceptions are 1) service animals that are trained to work or perform tasks for the benefit of a person with a disability are allowed if the guest provides management with written evidence of the animal's training within 24 hours of booking; 2) Colorado Trail hikers with a well-behaved dog may stay in one of our Outdoor Hostel campsites. See the "No Animals" section of our Property Policies on the booking page of the website for specific information on service animal requirements.
  • Why can’t I reserve a vacation house for one or two nights?
Over the summer and holidays, our Vacation Homes are subject to a 3- 4 night stay minimum. That minimum can be reduced to 2 nights for groups that are booking multiple accommodations at the Lodge, but the request needs to be made over the phone. We do not rent the houses for single night stays.
  • Is there a cleaning fee when renting the houses?
We do not charge a cleaning fee when you book the houses on our website.
  • Is there a conference room available?
We do not have a conference room here at the Lodge. Several of our Suites (e.g. Hall Valley, Guanella Pass, and Georgia Pass) do have common areas with enough room for smaller meetings, as do our two Vacation Homes. We do have chairs and tables available for pre-arranged small meetings in our accommodations.
  • What does the kitchenette in each room include?
Each kitchenette includes a Keurig style K-cup compatible coffee maker, coffee, sugar, creamer, microwave, toaster, sink, mini-fridge, dish soap and towels, cups, plates, bowls, and basic utensils. If you are missing anything in your kitchenette, let us know and we will get it to you.
  • Are there blow-dryers in each room?
There are plug-in blow-dryers in each bathroom, stored in the cabinets near the sink.
  • Do you have a hot tub?
Both houses have a private hot tub. Jack's Place also has a steam room in one of the bathrooms. There is not a hot tub at the Lodge.
  • Is there access to a propane grill?
There is access to one propane grill at each of the Vacation Homes and two propane grills at the Lodge.
  • Is drive-in camping allowed on the property?
We do not allow drive-in camping on our property. Tent camping is allowed only for Colorado Trail hikers during the summer hiking season (generally Memorial Day to Labor Day).
  • What is the elevation at the property?
We are located at about 7,800 feet elevation (2,400 meters).
  • Are there any safety concerns I should be aware of at the property?
The majority of our property is in its natural, unimproved state. Please use the same care you would as if you were out hiking. Our river can be fast-flowing and deep, please do not swim or wade into the river and pay close attention to children near its banks. Further details are available in our guest waiver, under the Property Policies page.
  • How much does it cost to flyfish on the river?
Our 2025 season rod fees are $175 per day, per angler for overnight guests of the Lodge. This entitles you to sun-up to sun-down access to the river. (Remember to reserve a slot in advance.) If you are not staying at the Lodge, the only way to access our water is via one of our approved guide services (call us for information). The rod fee for non-guest anglers is $225 per person, per day. Full day guided anglers are on the river from 9 AM to 4 PM.
  • Can I fish for free if I am staying at the Lodge or in one of the houses?
We provide free fishing for guests of all our accommodations in the trout pond at the Lodge. Pond fishing is catch and release, barbless hooked lures and flies only (no bait fishing). We have a few rods available to borrow at the Lodge office. No fishing license is required to fish in the pond. No guests or others are allowed to fish in the river on the Two Bridges Lodge property without reserving a slot, signing a waiver, undergoing an orientation, and paying the appropriate rod fee. There is a limited amount of public water on the river in the Bailey area we can refer you to if you would like to try your luck elsewhere for free.
  • How many other people will be on the river when I am flyfishing?
We try to make our river experience unique and special, so we limit total anglers to no more than 6 per day. We will never have more than two separate groups on the water on the same day. If you find yourself on a day with two groups, we will ask you to "share the water" in an appropriate and sportsmanlike way--generally with one group on the upper portion and the other on the lower portion before lunch and swapping in the afternoon so everyone gets to fish the entire river.
  • Do I need to reserve a slot on the river if I am a guest of the Lodge and want to flyfish?
Yes! We recommend reserving your river slot at the time of booking your room reservation--though we can sometimes accommodate requests once you arrive at the property. Just ask at the office if you are interested in fishing while you are in Bailey. You will not pay the rod fee until you arrive, but we do frequently fill our availability on the river during the summer and fall peak seasons.
  • What kind of flies do I need?
This is primarily a nymphing river--we see very little dry fly action. Common set ups include a San Juan worm, a rainbow warrior, or a mop fly. During high flow periods, you will need some weight on your line to get down to the fish. We like and recommend you talk to Glenn at Platte River Outfitters (our local Bailey fly shop) for insights on current river conditions and fly selection. He sells locally tied flies and other gear and has fished this river for decades.
  • Do I need waders?
We highly recommend waders as the river fishes much easier from the water. There is no prohibition on felt soles.
  • Does Two Bridges Lodge supply fly fishing gear?
We do not supply fly-fishing gear. If you are staying with us and intend to fish in the river, you will need to bring your own gear. Alternatively, we can refer you to a guide service that will provide a guide and all gear for an additional charge above and beyond the rod fee.
  • When do I pay my rod fee for fly fishing?
You will pay the evening prior or the morning of the day you are going to fish, depending on the time you will begin fishing.
  • Do I need a Colorado fishing license to fish at Two Bridges Lodge?
A valid Colorado fishing license is required to fish in the river. In addition to a fishing license, guests wishing to fish in the river need to reserve a slot, sign a waiver, undergo an orientation, review our flyfishing rules, and pay the appropriate rod fee. No license is required to fish in the pond at the Lodge. All fishing at Two Bridges Lodge is catch and release, barbless hooks only.
  • Can I keep or eat the fish I catch?
No. All fishing at Two Bridges Lodge is strictly catch and release. We try to protect the health and quality of our fish for all our guests (and the fish!).
  • Do you serve any meals at the hostel?
We do not serve any meals at the hostel. There is a kitchen equipped with dishes, silverware, hot plate, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker (including free coffee), toaster, sink and dishwasher inside the hostel.
  • Is smoking allowed on the property?

For USPS you will need to send your box to P.O. Box 629, Bailey, CO 80421 (it will not be delivered by the Post Office to our street address and will be returned if the PO Box is not included). We pick up from the post office several times a week during the summer. For FedEx and UPS, you will need to send your box to 59786 US Highway 285, Bailey, CO 80421. Additional details regarding resupply boxes can be found on our Hostel page.
  • Is there a shuttle service available to take me from the trail to the Lodge or vice-versa?
Two Bridges Lodge does not provide shuttle service. There are a few locals who shuttle hikers during the summer for extra income. For the 2025 season, you can call David at 303-483-5908 or Denise at 720-671-4141. Contact them at least a few days prior to when you will be needing their service to learn their pricing and coordinate your pick-up. Generally they pick-up/drop-off at Rolling Creek (between Segments 3 & 4) and Kenosha Pass (between Segments 5 & 6). Other locations/destinations can be discussed with the driver.
  • How hard is it to hitchhike into town or to the Lodge from the Colorado Trail?
If you are comfortable hitchhiking, it is generally not too difficult to get a hitch along Wellington Lake Road (between Segments 3 & 4) or at Kenosha Pass (between Segments 5 & 6).
  • Do you have any resupply items at the Lodge?
We do not sell any resupply items at the Lodge. We prefer you support our local business neighbors, several of whom stock many resupply items.
  • Does the hostel have laundry facilities?
Yes, there is a laundry room and laundry detergent available for hostel guest use--free of charge.
Colorado Trail hikers traveling with a well-behaved dog are allowed to stay in the Outdoor Hostel. Your dog must be kept on a leash while on the property for the safety of other guests and your dog (the Lodge property is between the highway and the river--either can be dangerous). You are responsible for cleaning up after your dog and disposing of its waste in the dumpster. See the "No Animals" section of our Property Policies on the booking page of the website for specific information on service animal requirements.
  • Is drive-in camping allowed on the property?
We do not allow drive-in camping on our property. Tent camping is allowed only for Colorado Trail hikers during the summer hiking season (generally Memorial Day to Labor Day).
  • How far is it into town from the hostel?
The closest restaurant (2 Dads) is a 2 minute walk away. The farthest part of town is 3/4 mile away. We have loaner bikes available for guest use that you are welcome to ride into town. Ask us for the "quiet route" so you don't have to walk or ride along the highway.
